Bob Dylan wrote the song in late 1963 in a time of great change taking place in this world. The civil rights movement and the folk music movement were both rapidly growing and this song was recorded about a month before President Kenndy was lost to the nation.
Come Gather Round People, Wherever You Roam...
When we gather together for a estate sale, we gather in a very unified way. While there is always a purpose behind every sale, we always have joy and we hope you feel this joy as you enter our sales. There is a folk tradition of telling the villagers to gather around and I will tell you of the many wonderful things that are happening. We have great satisfaction in bringing so many people together and listening to their stories of their friends who may have recently been lost or how they affected their own lives. We listen and we share these stories with others.
And Admit That The Waters Around You Have Grown...
The world around us is rapidly changing and the business we are in must change with it. We learn from every sale and we listen to every comment made. If we do not change, we fall by the wayside as many estate sale compaies fail because they are not willing to listen and to adapt to the constantly changing atmosphere around us. By listening and preparing each sale in the way you have grown accustomed from us, our sales have become an even larger event than ever imagined and we appreciate you making the effort to come.
And Accept It That Soon, You'll Be Drenched to the Bone...
We immerse ourselves in every sale we offer... there is nothing we do not take very seriously. We will be covered in dirt at some and covered in sweat with most because this is hard work.
If Your Time to You Is Worth Savin'...
We do not take it lightly that you come to our sales. We want you to know you are appreciated every time you come in. We know your time is valuable and we want you to know that we know this.
Then You Better Start Swimmin', Or You'll Sink Like a Stone...
We change not to keep up with the competition... we are the competition. We seek to lead. "For he that gets hurt, will be he who has stalled," is another one of the lyrics... and we do not have a "cruise" button on our sales.
